Washstand

Yesterday I put together this washstand out of unused bits from furniture kits and (again) stair spindle legs. The carved bits are from a mirror kit whose parts I decided were more valuable than it's finished product. I think I may have made the wrong choice by painting the backsplash with gold paint, as it stood out more when dark. I'll mull that over...

Perhaps some accessories will again do the trick in making it look finished. I have so many little bitty things I need to make, it's hard to know where to start. Sigh, life is hard... :-)

I love it when I pull things together like this it feels like I created something from nothing.

I do not mind at all the result; is very original, but not too much!
You'll see that with the right accessories you'll have a fabulous piece!

It's great Cynthia, the proportions look right and the elements combine well for a nice 'style' - recycling/repurposing taken to a new level ;)

It looks great. The scale sure is perfect. I love that you used parts from other kits to make it. I think it looks perfect but if you aren't happy, you could add some tiles to the back splash.

Thanks for all the positive feedback! Yes, I do agree that using leftover bits is much more satisfying than buying something ready-made. Tiles? Hmmm...that sounds nice, too.

I think you have done a great job, but perhaps might look even better all the same colour, just a thought.

I love what you've done with odds and ends, great job! Much more satisfying than buying when you can achieve this sort of quality.

Thank you for the inspiration...I'm working on a new(very) big project and needed some ideas! Soon I will tell you all about it on my blog!
